What is Classroom with a View – Spanish Immersion? This is our fifth year for Classroom with a View – Spanish Immersion! In this course, we study Spanish IA & IB at home in the fall (or higher if you've studied Spanish previously) and then in the winter we travel to Chacala, Mexico, on the Pacific Coast. In Chacala, the course focus is practicing Spanish and experiencing the Mexican culture. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate in this course. Prior Spanish study is not required to enroll. Students earn 1 credit for 'Spanish IA & IB' (or higher) and 1/2 credit for ‘Spanish Immersion IA.’ Field Course Dates February 2nd - 18th, 2009 Chacala is a small fishing village of 300 on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Since the village is small, safe, and welcoming, it is the perfect place to bring students. We gain much more than improved Spanish. Not only do we learn about language and culture, but we take life lessons with us about friendship, peace, and cultural tolerance. Upon returning, students have a broader horizon from which to build character, a better knowledge of the interrelatedness of the world community, and memories to last a lifetime. Oh, and by the way, we have a blast while doing all this! “Not only was my mother right that I would learn Spanish, I also had a blast!” - Student, Spanish Immersion '05 See what others have to say about CWAV |
